MP Visits Local Business

Tuesday 4th December 2007

On Friday of last week Des Browne MP visited the owner and staff of local welding supply business TPS Frontius to congratulate them collectively on an accolade recently bestowed upon the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Tom Palmer.

Tom Palmer has been invited to become a member of the Industrial Advisory Broad for the Welding Engineering MSc at Cranfield University - the UK’s only postgraduate in welding university.

The company has grown from strength to strength over the years, ranking highly internationally in the high value technical end of their market. Furthermore the company is now in the process of finalising with a UK manufacturer their first contract in mainland China.

Tom Palmer said:

“This invitation reflects and recognises TPS Frontius’s increasing involvement at the high-tec end of our industry.  However whilst it is me that has received the invitation this would have been utterly impossible without our 55 members of staff who have proved and provided the resulted which have merited this invitation. This is another example of a Kilmarnock company punching above its weight in a very challenging industrial sector.”

Des Browne MP said:

“I was delighted to be able to receive a tour of the premises and speak to the staff. Tom regularly keeps me up to date with all that is happening with his business and within the industry in general.  This is a great honour for Tom and a real feather in the cap of Kilmarnock that a local business has been recognised in this way.”
